How to manually change the size of virtual memory, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
2. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Performance click Settings.
3. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Virtual memory click Change.
4. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change.
5. Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, type a new paging file size in megabytes (MB) in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set.
6. Click OK to close the dialog box and apply changes.

Note After you change the size of the paging file, you may be prompted to restart Windows. If you are prompted to restart, the changes will not take effect until Windows is restarted.

Notes

• To have Windows select the best paging file size, click System managed size. The recommended minimum size is the same as 1.5 times the RAM on your computer, and 3 times that figure for the maximum size. For example, if you have 256 MB of RAM, the minimum size is 384 MB, and the maximum size is 1152 MB.
• For best performance, do not set the initial size to less than the minimum recommended size under Total paging file size for all drives. The recommended size is the same as 1.5 times the RAM on your computer. It is good practice to leave the paging file at its recommended size as performance can decrease if a paging file is too large. However, you may increase its size if you frequently use programs that use lots of memory, such as graphics programs or games.
• We strongly recommend that you do not disable or delete the paging file because this can lessen the computer's performance. However, if you decide to delete a paging file, set both the initial size and the maximum size to zero, or click No paging file.

Here are some simple tips for shopping for a new HDTV – though now's not the best time to buy

If you're thinking of buying a new HDTV – don't. This is the wrong time of year to buy an HDTV. Around Labor Day or just before the Super Bowl are probably the best times; manufacturers are ready to ship their new models around these times, making retailers desperate to sell what will soon be discontinued models at fabulous "everything must go!" prices.

So why am I writing a "how to buy an HDTV story" if this is the wrong time of year to buy one? My brother-in-law called me for HDTV shopping advice, so I figure other folks may be shopping as well. 

So, if you ignore my when-to-buy advice, here's my how-to-buy advice, which you are free to virtually clip and save if you manage to stave off your HDTV buying for a more economically advantageous time.

And I promise to keep things simple, because buying a TV ought to be simple, damn it!

LCD or plasma? If you have to fit your new TV into an existing cabinet, you have to buy an LCD model – plasma sets are available only with screens 42 inches (measured diagonally) and larger. If you're not size-restricted, buy a plasma. Plasma is the superior HDTV technology, especially for sports and game-playing. Why? I promised to keep this non-technical, so you'll just have to take my word for it. Only if your main viewing room is bathed in sunlight from multiple bay windows and a skylight should you even consider an LCD HDTV. I'm a fan of Panasonic's plasmas, but Samsung and LG make nice plasmas as well.

3D? As I've previously noted, 3D HDTVs are the pinnacle of flat screen technology. Even if you never intend to watch a 3D anything (and in technology, you ought NEVER to say you'll never), opt for the 3D model, if you can afford it – again, plasma. I'm begging you.

How big a set should I buy? Gear heads will suggest you whip out a slide rule to calculate the correct screen size vs. distance from the screen ratio. Hogwash and balderdash, and vice versa. Get as big a screen as you can afford. I suggest at least a 50 incher – I guarantee you'll contract a case of buyer's remorse within days of saving a couple of bucks by buying a 42-inch. However, if you buy a sub-42-inch LCD, look for a cheaper 720p resolution model. At less than 50 inches, you won't be able to see the advantages of a higher-resolution 1080p model.

Should I get an Internet connected set? First, do you have a Wi-Fi router set up in your home, or do you plan on installing one to create a home wireless network? If not, you'll have no way to connect your Internet connected set to the Internet, and the answer to my rhetorical question is "no." If you have Wi-Fi at home, however, I'd suggest getting an Internet-connected Blu-ray player instead. First, a non-connected TV will be cheaper. Second, you likely will have to buy a separate Wi-Fi connection module in addition to the connected HDTV. This Wi-Fi connection module is around the same price as a connected Blu-ray player, most of which have Wi-Fi built in. And since all Blu-ray players want to be connected to the Internet, a connected HDTV would be redundant. (Yeah, I know – now you need a How To Buy a Blu-ray feature. All right, I'm working on it!)

What extra features should I look for? A front HDMI jack for connecting a camcorder or video game console is handy, as are as many rear HDMI jacks as you can get, as is a USB jack to plug in an external hard drive or a USB thumb drive with photos on it is nice. Just bear in mind the "glass" – the actual screen – from model-to-model within a model series (you'll be able to tell from the varying alphanumeric model numbers which sets are the good-better-best of a particular line) don't change. If you pay more for a step-up set, it's usually for the features, not a higher-quality screen.

Where should I shop? Try to see different sets in dark showrooms – most big box retailers blast their TVs at their brightest to combat bright overhead lights, which is no way to view or compare HDTVs. And don't compare models watching animation – ALL animation on ALL HDTVs looks great. Tell the sales person to switch on something with real people in it, especially something with dark scenes. The more detail you can pick out of shadows, the better the set.

Where should I buy it? Retailers will hate me for this, but after you check out prospective HDTVs in a store, buy your choice online. Most retailers will charge you tax and for delivery and, even if you pick it up yourself, there's the gas and the schlepping – oh, my back! Find an online site to get free shipping and, if you're lucky, no tax.

Should I buy an extended warranty? No, no, NO! Extended warranties are merely a way for a store to make up the revenue they lose by selling you a cheap TV. Never EVER buy an extended warranty from a store, especially for a TV. If you buy an extended warranty, I'll come to your house, ring your doorbell, and run. If you access a folder frequently and it resides deep inside various directories, wouldn’t it be better if you could mount it as a virtual drive? In this way it can be accessed more easily since it will be positioned next to other drives inside My Computer. It would also become easier to access from explorer tree view.

Folder Drives is a small utility for Windows that lets you mount/unmount frequently used folders as virtual drives. Just run the tool, browse the folder that you want to mount, assign it a drive, and click Create Drive.

To remove the drive, select it and click Remove Drive. Here is the screenshot of how these folders mounted as virtual drive looks like.

If you are not able to remove the virtual drives, running this simple command will solve the problem.

Download and install FTP client.

Step 1. After you launch FileZilla you should get such screen:

 

As you can see, the interface is not too complicated. On the left you can see your local folder tree (teal frame) and selected folder content (green frame). The view and program windows are customisable so once you feel more comfortable with it you can adjust it to your preferences.

To configure FileZilla to connect to your website please click on the small computer icon on top left (red arrow).

Step 2. A Site Manager window will show up. 

Click on New Site button and enter a name for the new connection settings. (It can be really anything, it's just so that you know where it takes you to ;)).

Step 3. Now you need to fill in the connection details (marked with red arrows). 

Please enter host name (this is your FTP address, please NOTE: NO "www", "http" but "ftp" goes in front of the domain name). 

Your Server Type is FTP. Logontype is Normal.

Username and password should be provided to you in Login Information e-mail from VELNET. 

If you're not using your computer or you share your pc with other people and you don't want them to be able to connect to your site you can select the option not to remember your password (underlined with blue).

Once you're sure the settings are correct click Save and Exit button.

Step 4. Now After you returned to main program window click small arrow next to the computer icon top left to see drop-down menu. Pick your website from the list to connect.

Step 5. Connection established. You will see the folders of your site on the left side of the screen. They vary depending on the type of server you're on (information provided in Login Details email from VELNET).

One of the folders you see is your website main directory, the rest of them are system folders, any modifications you make to the system folders may damage your website structure.

For cPanel server type your upload directory is public_html folder. (for PLESK look further down)

If you are on PLESK server your folder structure will look different and your upload folder is httpdocs.

Step 6. Enter (double-click) your upload directory (public_html or httpdocs).

Step 7. Now find (your website)files you want to upload on your local machine (left-side folder tree and content).

Simply select the files and drag-and-drop them to the right of the screen (your web folder).

You will notice the transfer progress on the bottom of the screen.

If all is OK, your FileZilla window will show the files you uploaded on the right.

Congratulations! You have just uploaded the website. It should be visible in your internet browser window.

NOTE: In order for the website to show only after you enter the domain name in internet browser your main webpage MUST be named index.html (or index.htm, index.php... you get the idea).

Step 8. If you change/update any of the files on your PC and wish to apply the changes on your website, all you need to do is again to drag-and-drop the desired file to it's web destination and confirm the prompt window to OVERWRITE the file on the server. 

NOTE: Please make sure you really want to do the changes as you will not be able to change it back, unless off course you have a back up on your local machine.

Step 9. When you upload everything you need you can close the connection. To that click the icon pointed by red arrow. 

You can safely close the program now by clicking the "x" in red button top left of the screen.

Copy the .nk2 file from your old Outlook profile.

Tip You can copy the file to removable media, such as a USB key (Pen drive) or a CD (DVD), and then copy the file to the correct location on the other computer. Or you can attach the file to an e-mail message and send the message to yourself. On the new computer, open the attachment, and then save it to the correct location.
Note You must exit Outlook before starting the following procedure. The names will be included in AutoComplete when you restart Outlook.

1. On the Office 2010 where you want to migrate the AutoComplete feature too, Paste the NK2 file to drive:%user name%\%appdata%\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\
2. If prompted about replacing the existing file, click “yes”.

3. Note that the .nk2 file must have the same name as your current Outlook 2010 profile. By default, the profile name is “Outlook.” To check the profile name, follow these steps:

Are you one of the two out of 10 U.S. tablet owners who doesn't have iPad?

Yes, you're a minority. But do you feel like an individualist -- that grand defiant person who refuses to be one of the sheep? Or are you embarrassed to take your tablet out for fear the pad people will scoff at you? If it's any consolation, your numbers are growing ever so slightly -- from 9 out of 10 (based on Apple assertions) just two months ago. If there's safety in numbers, you've got a long way to go yet.

Eighty-two percent of U.S. tablet owners are pad people -- er, iPad owners, Nielsen revealed on May 5. But that's not you. You're more likely to be an "other" tablet owner than any, well, other. That category accounts for 9 percent of U.S. owners -- right, nearly one in 10. The next lot of you own Samsung Galaxy Tab (4 percent). Another 3 percent own the Dell Streak and 2 percent the Motorola XOOM. Well, so much for Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" pulling away people from iPad, eh.

Among the pad people, 43 percent suckered up for the big spending, plunking down anywhere from $629 to $829 for iPad with WiFi and 3G. Thirty-nine percent own Wi-Fi only iPads. They only paid between $499 and $699. But iPad buyers aren't obligated to take a costly data plan or lock into a two-year contract as you most likely did. Are you now feeling sorry about those monthly data-plan fees for the tablet you daren't take out in public?

Nielsen wrote about you -- well, supposedly, in a blog post today that summarized new research. I say "supposedly" because those eight out of 10 pad people. We can only assume that the findings reflect your behavior. Nielsen says that "iPad continues to dominate the conversation -- and market." Perhaps iPad overly dominates the research, too.

Nielsen claims that about one third of tablet owners use their desktop PC less and 3 percent "do not use it anymore." It's 30 percent and 2 percent, respectively, for laptops.

"Twenty-seven percent of those who also own e-readers said they use their e-reader less often or not at all," according to Nielsen. You were such a rugged individualist when buying Kindle years ago. Now look at you. Uh-oh, "25 percent [of] tablet owners who own portable games consoles are using those devices less often, if at all, since purchasing a tablet." So much for that Nintendo 3DS, eh?
